Agia Marina

Agia Marina (Aghia Marina) beach is where most of the tourists spend their vacation together with their family and friends.

Agia Marina is a seaside village located about 9 kilometers west of Chania city. It is one of the most popular resorts in Chania. There are hundreds, if not more, hotels and all types of activities and foods catering to tourists. The village is named after the old local church of Agia Marina.

The shore of Agia Marina is adorned with lovely consecutive sandy beaches. On the west side, near the port of Platania, there are many small artificial piers where a person can swim. In the east part the beach is a long sandy beach extending to Stalos. You will find all the services offered along the shore, like a well organized beach.

 

This beach has thin sand combined with a golden pink hue. The beach has an exotic vibe because of how different trees are nestled along the sea front.

The beach is about 2.5 kilometers wide and it has been modernized over the years. You can see life guard stations when you go strolling, and you can find many toilet and showers a few meters away from each other. Umbrellas, and sun beds are also available and it is free to use while watching your children swimming or playing.

Agia Marina’s peak season is on July and August. If you are planning to visit this place it is best that you book ahead of time in order for you to have a hotel to sleep in and a private vehicle to rent.
